- set up chapter headings and figure and title numbers to auto-increment when built
- design custom page layouts
- specify page-numbering, footer and header style
- create an attractive title page and chapter first pages with images and special formatting
- auto-generate the table of content, index, cross-references, and glossary when built
- use variables and snippets for often-used, often-changed text
- add images to your ClickHelp projects
- output projects not only to PDF but also XHTML, HTML5, Word, and others
- import and convert Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, DITA, CHM, XMl, HTML files into your projects
You use videos and transcripts of those videos to learn these tasks, e-mail your instructor when you have questions, and send your work to the instructor for review.
Course Workings
For each unit:
- you do some reading, watch some videos to learn concepts and procedures for that unit. (You can skip units for whatever reason, but if you need a recommendation, your instructor will mention those omissions.)
- you then practice the concepts and procedures of that unit. The videos show you step by step how to do the practice work for that unit.
- you send the ClickHelp practice work to your instructor, who reviews and comments, and if necessary explains revisions needed. You repeat the revision–review cycle until your instructor signs off. (You can choose not to revise—it's your course, your money.)
- Toward the end of the course, you build a complete, standard PDF book in ClickHelp and revise as necessary.
