In this unit, you learn about the types and purposes of technical documents. Also in this unit, you learn about audiences for technical document: their types, their focus on technical document, their interests and needs. You assess what types of information they need, what types of information they do not need, and how technically that information should be presented.

As for me, I left IBM in 1995 to come to ACC specifically to develop and teach online courses. Since then I have developed courses in Adobe FrameMaker and RoboHelp, MadCap Flare, XHML, CSS, XML, DITA, Git/GitHub . These are essential background for people wanting to become technical writers.
