Unit 4: Build Your Own Practice Drupal Site—Articles, Images, Basic Pages, Blogs

Note: Most of the links have been removed from this page.

For the next few weeks, you'll add common functions to your own Drupal Site. You don't have to include these in the final Drupal project you create for this course. You can deliver whichever functions you want. The point with these practice sessions is for you to become familiarized with how Drupal works from a developer standpoint. In this unit, you will create basic "nodes" for your Drupal site.

Drupal practice

In this unit, do the following:

  1. But first, do these basic admin tasks before you make any changes to your Drupal site and after. Here are the videos: Pantheon commit with code update, Pantheon backup
  2. Using this video, create an article and add text and a graphic to it (transcript).
  3. Using the same video, create a basic page, use bold, italics, and color on it. Also, create a numbered list and a bulleted on that basic page.
  4. Using this video, enable visitors to participate in and contribute to your Drupal site; give David Mc administrator permissions (transcript available).
  5. Using this video, enable visitors to your site to create their own blogs and comment on those of others (transcript).
  6. Add a who's-online to your site: click Structure > Block Layout > Sidebar Second > Place Block > Place block (to right of Who's Online).
  7. E-mail your instructor when you've complete this unit.

Your instructor should be able to see the article with text and graphic; the page with bold, italics, and bulleted and numbered lists; and an instance of a custom content type.
