Additional Tools in CCleaner
Aside from the three cleaning modes, CCleaner has several other tools to help you further optimize your PC. Some of these can be found in various Windows settings, but CCleaner conveniently puts them all in one menu.
Tool Name | General Functions |
---|---|
Uninstall | Lists all applications installed on your PC and provides buttons for uninstalling or repairing them. |
Software Updater |
Lists applications on your PC in need of updating and provides a button to update them. Note:This is a premium feature only usable on Pro versions of CCleaner. |
Startup |
Lists all applications and services that are set up to auto-run when you start your PC or specific applications. Check marks next to each application's name allow you to individually enable or disable this auto-run feature. |
Browser Plugins | Has tabs across the top for each web browser installed on your PC that show which browser plugins are installed on them and allows you to individually enable, disable, or delete each one. |
Disk Analyzer | Scans one or multiple drives on your PC to show you how much storage different types of files are taking up. |
Duplicate Finder |
Scans your PC to search for duplicate files and allows you to delete the extras, leaving only one. Caution: Do not delete similarly-named files if you are not sure if they are necessary or not. Deleting necessary system files could cause your PC to stop working properly. |
System Restore | Lists all system restore points currently available on your PC and allows you to individually remove them. |
Drive Wiper |
Allows you to securely erase either the free space or contents of each drive on your PC. Caution: Erasing the contents of a drive in this way is irreversible; CCleaner does not move deleted files to the recycle bin. |
